The short answer to freelance translators or individual buyers is yes, and to commercial companies, translation agencies, no. Of course, if you change computers or reformat your hard drive, you will be able to re-install Wordfast for free, subject to some conditions. See the Wordfast User License Agreement, which gives more detail, with several examples. back to top

Wordfast is a try-before-you-buy program: you already have it installed and running on your computer before you decide to buy. If you have not done so already, download and install Wordfast to try it. The version you have is the full version, but it is limited to a translation memory size of 500 units until you buy a license. What you buy is actually a license number that removes Wordfast's demo limitation. back to top

No. Wordfast is only sold direct on our Buy page to keep prices low. Note that there may be colleagues (translators) in your region that can provide basic training for starting with Wordfast (see Community/Training), but distribution and sales are only through Wordfast's website. back to top

When buying a license, at whatever price, you are entitled to a one-year email hotline. To access the hotline, sign in at wordfast.com/myaccount with the credentials you received after you bought your license. back to top

Sorry, no. After choosing your product on the Buy page, our payment partner will process your transaction. They accept all major credit cards, wire transfers, and more. For bureaucratic corporations who need to first place an order, then receive a proforma invoice, you can order using the wire transfer method. Our payment partner will send you a pro forma invoice. For all others, you will receive an invoice after your purchase is completed.

During the first three years after you buy a license, you can upgrade for free to any newer version of Wordfast. After these three years, you are allowed to buy a new license at a discounted price, and are entitled to the same conditions as a new buyer, except for the free hotline. back to top

Sorry, no exceptions to the gratuity clause. This is to ensure a fair treatment to all, and keep Wordfast's price low.
If you are a student, your Professor can apply for gratuity for you, and for other students in your class. back to top -
Make sure you read and applied the advice in the relevant manual. See the sections on "Installation" and "Troubleshooting" for Wordfast Classic.
If you are still struggling to install Wordfast Classic, in Microsoft Word, type Alt+F11 (or use the Tools/Macros/Visual Basic Editor menu) to open the Visual Basic window. Use the Tools/Options dialog box, go to the "General" tab. Tick the lower of the three options in "Error recuperation" group (this options says "Stop on unknown errors only". Check both checkboxes in the "Compilation" group. Close the Visual Basic window. In Microsoft Word, make sure one more time that the Tools/Macros/Security setting (if there is such a menu) is set to "Low". Close Microsoft Word, open it again and try installation again.
If all this fails, and your version of Microsoft Word is 97 or above, try installing Wordfast on another computer, as a test routine. Then consider de-installing/Re-installing Microsoft Word or Office on your own computer. back to top -
