Licensing process and questions

We get a lot of hotline questions about licensing and installing Wordfast Pro (WFP) 3 and 4. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

You do not need to purchase an upgrade to use Wordfast Pro 4 as long as your WFP license is still valid.
If you own a Wordfast Pro or Wordfast Studio license, you can install and use both 3 and 4 on the same computer.
If you are unsure about how to license Wordfast Classic or WFP (3 or 4), please check out our wiki article on licensing.
If you are a freelance translator, you can install WFP on two computers. For WFP3, the same license file cannot be used on two different computers; you need to generate a second license file via your user account because the install number on the second computer is different.

Wordfast Aligner

Yves spent the summer tinkering with a new alignment tool, and it is now live for 36 languages.

It’s very easy to use: simply copy and paste your source and target text, then let the machine do the rest. The software mines linguistic data to match sentences providing much more accurate alignment results. Try it out!

Wordfast Pro

Wordfast Pro 4.10.4 is released! Was the segment focus disappearing when moving to the next segment for CJK target languages? Did the older version of WFP4 for Mac fail to work properly? Were curly style apostrophes throwing a spelling error? All fixed! You can now also open file locations by right clicking on a file or open the source file in its default application.

Wordfast Anywhere

If you haven’t logged into Wordfast Anywhere in a while, you might want to check out its new user interface and ribbon. Wordfast Anywhere has also added IATE glossaries so depending on your language pair, you get automatic term-recognition without having to create your own glossaries. Check it out!
